Press Release on CFASF Kaduna Schools Games

In view of the developing situation linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, In recent weeks, sports organisations around the world have been forced to confront the reality that the coronavirus is likely to have a significant impact on the industry – not just in the short term, but also the long term. As the virus has spread, an increasing number of sporting events have either been staged behind closed doors, postponed or, increasingly, cancelled outright. In this regards, the Kaduna 2nd Edition Primary schools athletics championship and 5th Edition Secondary schools sports festival will not be able to be held on the dates initially scheduled. In conjunction with our Stakeholders and Partners approved the new dates this week after extensive discussions with them has now been postponed until 2021 academics session due to the current situation as we all know. THE IMPORTANCE OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN YOUTH SPORTS It is not surprising that research overwhelmingly points to a connection between positive, supportive parental involvement and a child’s level of enjoyment and success in the sport he or she is involved in. It has also been suggested that a moderate level of involvement would be the optimum level of parental involvement.  Parents who are over-involved may create high level of pressure, while uninvolved parents do not provide enough support to facilitate a child’s desire to participate in sport,but those parents who are moderately involved seem to provide just the right balance not only to facilitate enjoyment, but also to challenge the child to continue to grow and develop his or her skills. HAJARA HARUNA BIOGRAPHY Hajara Haruna original sporting passion was football. She took up football in her sophomore year at high school. Given her athletic physique, friends, teachers and family encouraged her to take up sports despite coming from a society of female involvement in sport is not common. In her late high school, she began to take an interest in athletics. She participated in a number of disciplines early on, competing in 100m,200m and the relays events at the school championships and winning a medal in each. In 2016, the journey of Hajara to athletics stardom began, where her childhood friend Abdulhakeem Idris suggested to her if she enjoyed sports, she should take up athletics, as she was already regularly beating the boys in her class in sprints but at that moment it took awhile before she give up her dreams of football. COACH ABDULHAKEEM IDRIS BIOGRAPHY Abdulhakeem Idris  is a practical example of CFASF motto's, 3Ds discovery, developing and delivering. He was discovered in October 2016 during an inter house sports in his college (Challawa Schools Barnawa) where he caught the attention of Coach Felix. His performance earned him a call up to the foundation,while he was schooling and training under Coach Felix which he obtained modern and scientific athletics training which made him a youth athlete to beat in Kaduna state as a whole in both 400m and 800m. He made his debut outing for CFASF at AFN all-comers Abuja in November 2017 in both 400m and 800m.He was at the AFN golden league Kaduna. AYOMIDE A. OYETUNJI BIOGRAPHY Ayomide A. Oyetunji has come a long way since being discovered by coach Felix at national youth games Ilorin and has won several medals in secondary school,university and state level. He made his debut outing for CFASF at AFN all-comers Abuja in November 2017 where he ran a then Personal Best (PB) of 11.33s.He lowered his PB to 11.04 at AFN Golden League in Kaduna 2017. He then emerge the 100m champion and a gold medalist in 4×100m of YSFON 2018 Ramat Int's cup championship in kano. But the teenager was unable to compete fully due to school engagements in 2018 season,A student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).Then he came back for inter faculty games at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in September he was crowned the 100m and 200m champion in preparation for 2018 west African university games(WAUG). TEMITOPE OLUSESAN BIOGRAPHY Temitope Olusesan was discovered by coach Felix at the 2017 secondary schools games Kaduna. She made her  debut outing for Kaduna at the 2017 national youth games Ilorin where she ran a then personal best of 63.87s in the 400m and 2.37.97s in the 800m. It was a remarkable achievement for the 13-year old girl that year. In 2018 season,School activities prevented the young girl from training and  competing at a number of events. At the 2018 secondary schools sports festival in Kaduna where she ran 68.10s in the 400m and 29.60s in the 200m for Demonstration school. She lowered her PB to 63.74s in the 400m at 2018 national youth games Ilorin. She open her 2019 season at u-18 and u-20 national trials held at Ilaro,Ogun state between 14th-17th March, 2019 where she smashed her PB from 63.74 to 59.97s while competing in 400m Final B where she finished second in the race. FAVOUR DARE BIOGRAPHY Favour Dare is one athlete who knows what she wants, and she is willing to make the required sacrifices to get it. Everything started, after she watched her friends and school mates putting up impressive performances during the school’s inter-house sports competitions,she decided to give Athletics a try. The 12-year old girl who will be turning 13-years on 23rd October this year,She was CFASF first edition of Intensive Holiday, Academics and Sports Clinic product and she was discovered there. Which at the clinic they normally organized a trials for the kids,where she was a finalist in both the 100m and 200m events which she competed in and although she might not have won, she had a good outing and got into a position to be considered as one of the athletes to be drafted into CFASF. ELIZABETH ALEGE BIOGRAPHY Coach Felix academics and sport foundation fast rising female 100m star Elizabeth Alege. Elizabeth first appeared at 2018 secondary schools sports festival in kaduna,She kept in touch with coach Felix because she was determined to join the foundation.Coach Felix decided to invite her to the foundation trials where she sealed it up with a 4th place and clocking a time of 15.48s in the competition,but coach Felix was not discouraged with her time. JOHN MONDAY BIOGRAPHY John Monday was one of the first athlete discovered by coach Felix at the 2016 national youth games Ilorin where he was playing cricket for team Kaduna. John decided to leave cricket for athletics in 2017,when coach Felix encouraged him to focus his energy on improving his athletic abilities. He made his debut outing for CFASF at AFN all-comers in November 2017 in 100m and 200m. The young star battled with a host of school activities in the 2018 season which prevented him from training and competing at a number of events. At the CFASF third stake holders Congress 2019 she was awarded high performance athlete.This award is presented to a CFASF athlete who has demonstrated extraordinary individual performancet as measured from the beginning to the end of the season. VIVIAN ANAGWONYE BIOGRAPHY

VIVIAN ANAGWONYE BIOGRAPHY Coach Felix academics and sports foundation youngest female performing athlete Vivian Anagwonye. Vivian was discovered by coach Felix at 2018 CFASF maiden athletics talent hunt at NNPC leadership academy sport complex Kaduna,where she won the u15 Girl's 100m. At the 2018 secondary schools sports festival in Kaduna, the 13-year old girl was not intimidated with her competitors going into the 100m to finished with a bronze medal in a time of 13.75s(HT) and came back the following day to upgrade her medal to silver medal at the 200m in a time of 28.82s(HT).  She combines her athletics career with studies at Jinie school Kaduna. JUDGE JONATHAN BIOGRAPHY Coach Felix first saw Judge Jonathan at the 2017 secondary schools games Kaduna where he was 100m finalist. His first race for CFASF was at 2017 AFN golden league Kaduna where he ran a pb of 22.74 in the 200m The CFASF athlete was one of the standout performers at 2018 secondary schools sports festival in kaduna where he won 100m,200m and place second to secure for demonstration college the Silver medal in 4×400m. Judge totally dominated the 100m and 200m in 2018 at the secondary school level in Kaduna. 2019 season suppose to a good season for the young star but he is currently battling with hamstring injury. UMAR ABDULLAHI BIOGRAPHY Umar Abdullahi is a talented athlete,Umar has been with coach Felix since from childhood. The CFASF athlete was one of the standout performers at the 2017 secondary schools games where he struck GOLD in four events namely the 400m , 800m,4×100m and 4x400m and also a silver medal in 200m to emerge overall best male athlete in the championship His first outing as an CFASF athlete and representing Kaduna was at the 2017 national youth games Ilorin where he ran a pb of 50.17 at the 400m final. IBRAHIM SALAWA BIOGRAPHY Ibrahim Salawu CFASF 2018 Most disciplined athlete. Ibrahim was discovered at 2018 secondary schools sports festival Kaduna, where he finished second in 800m final behind the state youth champion Josiah Joel and came back the following day to anchored his school team to a silver medal in 4×400m. His performance at secondary schools sports festival earned him a call up to the foundation. Two months after joining CFASF,He came back strong to beat the 800m youth champion Josiah Joel at the 2018 Kaduna state youth trials. Joy Bamaiyi was discovered at 2017 secondary school games,Coach Felix decided to call her into the foundation that year. Joy first race for her school was at the 2017 secondary schools games where she lost it to her more experienced counterparts finishing with a bronze medal in 100m. At 2018 Destiny college inter collegiate athletics championship she won her race in emphatic style, even while taking things quite easy in the 100m. She continued her success into the 2018 secondary schools sports festival Kaduna,She was crowned the 2018 fastest school girl and placed second to secure for her school team the Silver medal in 4×100m. Peace Lekwot has come a long way since being discovered by Coach Felix from Primary school. Behind every great child there is a great parent,coming from a family that know the true value of sports. Peace, who is distinguishing herself as a future world beater, has in previous athletics meet won several other medals from 100m, long jump, and 4x100m which she specialises on. In 2017, then 10-year old in JSS1 started showing sign of athlete to watch out for,during the Faith Academy Inter Houses Sport Festival, She dominant her age category and even challenged her seniors.
